350 and 400 legend 10.5” barrel (savage 110 pcs)

I used the 205g maker 350l subs in a 360 bh pistol this year. Yes they are .355, but worked great. Double lung, went 10 yards, huge blood trail. For a 100 yards and in option for 350L it would be a great choice. Also super quiet with a can.

This really shows why energy is mostly irrelevant, muzzle energy with this round is barely over 500 ftlbs at 1080. Yet it was very effective. While the shot was at close range, 20 yards, subs slow down, slowly and it would have worked just as well at 100 yards.

Unfortunately no dice, extra bummer cuz it was my wife’s first deer hunt. We still had a ton of fun.

In response to your other post the ballistics say the bear creek out of my 110pcs should be good to 150 yards or so. Carrying 800ft/lbs and 1600 ft/second. They say it will open consistently down to 1400 which would mean 200 yards but only 600ft/lbs which I don’t like. I figure it’s a solid 150 and in rifle. My other rifles fill in the rest. Next year we are gonna hunt a more open area so I’ll likely bring the 280ai and then the 350 as a backup if we end up in a tighter spot.
Dang - I know that we were all rooting for you. Looking forward to the next chapter.
And thanks for the extra info.

I appreciate that. Despite the lack of deer she’s totally hooked. Wants to get into bow hunting too for next year. So I’m optimistic that we will get her on game. She also wants to do the pa rifle season next year as well. So in the end it was a success - she had buck fever bad

Tak - can I ask what the barrel length is on your 700 sbr? And are you limiting your affective range for deer? I have a 110 pistol in .300blk (suppressed) which is deadly on deer at 40 yards, but I've no confidence in it at 100.

10.5"
I hunted with it quite a bit for a few years and it far exceeded my expectations. I started out "bow hunting" with it - 30 yards expanded to 70, then further. I've killed about a dozen whitetails, both with the bolt gun and with another 10.5" AR. The furthest was 185 yards, and I dialed for that one. Most were around 75 yards, but I can think of a couple over 100 yards and one other at 150 yards. The biggest buck I killed with it was 110 yards.

To answer your question, 100 is no problem, and at 150 you just need to make sure you have practiced and know your dope - you will need to hold over or dial at 150.
These were with 110 and 120gr Barnes TacTX or Remington UMC. The original UMC 110gr had Barnes headstamps and had much better terminal performance than the later UMC. The originals were supposedly loaded for the military and UMC bought the surplus.

I also killed two doe with it this year using subsonics (190gr subX) for the first time, 60 yards and 105 yards.
