.308 or 6.5 PRC for Deer in Colorado

I'm an experienced marksman. I've been shooting my whole life and I'm in my 50's. I shot the highest score on the entire rifle range at Parris Island in the Marine Corp and was invited to try out for Scout Sniper. My OP stated I was target shooting at 1000 yds, not hunting. I know and understand my current BC for the .308. I appreciate your note. Have a great season!
You have a great practical approach to this topic. It's much appreciated!

I don't see there's anything to go figure lol. I'd love to hear from guys watching this thread how far their more recent deer or elk were taken.

I'll start. Last 5 deer: 184 yards, 200 yds, 223 yds, 225 yds, 100 yds. Last 5 elk: 255 yds, 124 yds, 220 yds, 225 yds, 345 yds.

In almost 30 years in colorado, longest shot on deer or elk was the last one listed on elk above, 345 yards. Go hunt animals, don't worry about how far you can shoot them.
This is actually a great piece of info to consider.

Mule/Blackmails. The last 4 have been sub 200, probably mostly sub 100. But I have one buck i killed at 650.

Elk (excluding archery) 350, 300, 425, 450, ~150, ~100 and 35 yards. Those are ones I cam remember. Yardages are rounded.
