And yet if you call the old farts with their heads so far up their rear ends "asshats" or "40 watt club members" or "404s", their Depends get soiled and you run the risk of being placed in time out.

Relax bud. When you get older you will get to poke fun at younger kids. It’s all good no need to get so upset. Let’s talk about guns and fun stuff.

99% of people who work at the gun counter know about as much about guns as 99% of car salesmen know about cars.

True in some cases although are also some very knowledgeable people that work at local gun stores. They also see first hand what is selling. 308 has been hot lately.

I have been eyeing an sig cross and on the fence btw 308 and 6.5 creed.

I was a 308 guy for a long time. I drank the 6.5 creedmor koolaid a bit and now I have and love a tikka in creed. It is good deer medicine and very soft shooting. The 308 doesn’t give up much ballistically at the distances I shoot animals and the ammo is cheaper and more plentiful here locally.

Stop at just about any gun counter in wal mart .308, .270, .30-06 always.
Hell, even the WMs in Ohio have the above. Ohio is one the shot gun/straight wall states.
Now the little WM near me in WV I’ve seen .22-250, 7mm mag, 300wm 300 savage off the top of my head, plus all the above. Somebody in that store is a gun person (y)

Cheap as hell, incredibly available, versatile bullet weights that let you huint anything in north america, reasonable recoil, short action compatable. Why would I want anything else for hunting inside typical rifle rang (inside 400 yards). I have killed dozens of big game animals in my life and i can count on 1 hand the number I have shot outside 300 yards. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. See below: A big wyo whitetail DRT using a Kimber pushing 150gr ttsx at 3000fps.28927659-419C-4715-8091-22FDF15BB86A.jpeg

223 has all of the same benefits of the 308 with much less recoil. I know some of you live in states that restrict it as a big game hunting caliber, which is dumb, but I understand the need for something commonly available. I did build a 308 gasser though due to the ammunition availability of the past few years.

I also have a 6mm ARC gasser and I can say if ammunition prices are ever finally down to the 308 levels my 308 won't be used at all due to how awesome the 6mm ARC is.

A fast twist 308 for subs and ultra long heavies would be a neat project.

I haven’t noticed anything but the annoying obsessing with 6.5 manbunn.

Although I actually hopped on the .308 train last year so maybe I am part of the wave. Easy to load, great performance, low recoil, long barrel life. What’s not to like?

Performed excellent on my first 8pt Michigan whitetail buck this past season.

I’d say 95%+ of hunters don’t take shots over 250 yards anyway.

As a lover of 223, can you blow though an elk shoulder joint at 300 yards with a 223 though?
