Wish I could but commie-fornia would frown upon this sort of ear proPersonally I’d suppress that 270 or 308 first, that’d most likely change your future perspectives / desires.

Agree to. My 308 is my do-it-all rifle. I know its limitations but I also like shiny new objects in the gun safenew rifles are fun. I think we call all agree on that.
I’m in the camp that your .308 is plenty. Right bullet, right spot.
apparently, you don't need a new gun...just a suppressor!
I used to agree with this logic and say the same thing to my buddies. But with the ability to find just about any ammo online now, I’m not sure it matters anymoreThe 300 has been killing critters for decades. Try and find WSM ammo of any flavor on a store shelf right now. Thats what PRC ammo selection will probably be 10 years down the road.
Agree on the 223 “trainer”We have either used, or guided for, shooters using the 7 PRC and the 300 WM on everything from woodchucks to water buffs. Everything terminal the 300 WM can do the 7 PRC can do with less recoil, rifle weight (though not by much), muzzle blast, and sometimes barrel length.
If it is in a new rifle, I'd go 7 PRC 8 days a week over 300 WM.
Now if it has to be a 300 of some type then I'd grab a 300 PRC to throw those 225+ pills.
For what it is worth, for my uses I went 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC as my two "big" hunting rifles.
I think that you would be better served by - wait for it - a can on your big rifle and a 223 trainer that matches it to get in some high volume yet cheap reps. No surprise on that being the answer here on Rokslide though...
