Looking for guidance developing a load for 300 wsm with staball 6.5 and 175 lrx and wlrm primers. The only data i can find is from hogdon for 175 sierra hpbt and 180 grain nosler e-tip

For 175 it is 63 to 68.3 grains
For 180 e tip it is 60 to 66.5 grains

I have a chronograph so i can track velocity and my rifle is 20" so i expect 100 fps less.

Does anyone have load data they can share or PM me or verify the above starting charge weights are within reason?

Thank you!

60gr seems a safe/conservative start, load a single round at 60gr, 61gr, 62gr, etc and shoot over the chrono as your sanity safety check and get a feeling for what your component combo is delivering for velocities and find your upper end. Back off from there and load groups to test in your preferred method.

It seems like it should be a good fit for the case. I’m curious how it would work with 185 juggernauts.

Got mine up to 68.3 grains and 3000 fps. You guys are cooking! Based book you guys are exceeding 24" velocity. im wondering if it is the primer. I am using wlrm. Accuracy is there but my velocities were all over the place it is a new barrel so ill clean it and shoot more and see whats up. I might go higher, my throat is a little longer and im seating my bullets a good ways out so i might seat in further to fill the gap.

Ps, I emailed Barnes with a similar question and they said to just use starting load for a jacket lead bullet and that would be fine.

Did you ever get some velocity’s? Looking to build a 20” 300 WSM on the 175 LRX

3000 fps with 68.3 grains of staball 6.5 I built mine with a longer throat and 8 twist and 20" as well. I'm planning on eventually loading some pretty long bullets. I've only shot 30 rounds down the tube so far and this was with virgin ADG brass and WLRM primers. I'm pretty sure I could get it up a bit higher but honestly even 3000 is plenty I might dial it back to 2900 depending on load development. The short barrel does not give up much hogdon book max says 3097 so 97fps...
