So I was gifted a Sako 300 wsm and need to get new bullets as the old ones were stored in louisiana and over a decade old. I can’t figure out if the 1:11 twist will stabilize a 180 gr bullet for elk and I would rather not waste money or time figuring it out as my hunt is at the end of the month. Ideally I would’ve had the rifle a few months ago but due to me living in Colorado, transporting it from Louisiana was a bit of a hassle. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on bullets for elk. It’s a Sako A7 300 wsm with a 1:11 twist

The Norma 180 Bondstrike shoots very well in my 1-11 Tikka. Look on ammoseek it’s pretty available and not too expensive. 1-11 twist should be ok up to 210ish gr bullets.

So would nosler accubond be good? I was also looking at the 165gr ttsx

My tikka 300wsm shoots Winchester deer season xp 150 grain really well. Have some heavier stuff available but haven’t shot any of it yet.

Shooting Berger 200.20x out of my 11 twist into very tiny groups, 180s will be a non issue

165 or 180 gr accubond. For elk these bullets are hard to beat. I reload these in a few different calibers and have found them to be very accurate.

If I ever get another 300wsm this is the only thing it will shoot. My last tikka shot bugholes with this ammo. Crazy high bc and killed like lightning. Killed elk and whitetails with it.

My best shooting lightweight is a 300H&H that wears a #2 Lilja with 1-11" twist. Shoots 200gr Accubonds under .50 at 100m.

A friends 300 Ultra has a 1-11.27" Rock that routinely shoots 200gr TTSX (which are LONG!) into .50-.75 groups.

Have no fear with your choice.
