I purchased a 300 win mag used and it came with some rounds,
150 grain. What do you guys like to shoot.
The gun will probably only be used for bear and elk. It shoots good with the 150s but am thinking I should bump up to 180s. And suggestions?

180 TSX has been solid. Sub MOA and pretty flat at 3045 fps (hand loads). 1 shot, quick results on Elk, Mule Deer, White tail and large hogs.

215 Berger Hybrids to start, the good idea fairy talked me into switching to 180gr Nosler Accubonds and while anything I have ever shot with either has died, I am looking to switch back to the 215's when and/if the world ever becomes a sane place again and I can find em'.

I really like the 175 LRX & 181 hammers. If I was shooting lead, I would probably go up to the 200 gr plus (like ELD-X, berger's 200.20x or 215's)

Whichever shoots the best for my given requirements. I had a 300 WM that absolutely loved 180 gr TTSX. My current 300 WM absolutely loves 190 gr Berger.

Those Hammers have tempted me but my 175 grain LRX have never let me down.

My understanding is the 4 projectiles come off at 30%. For those who have firsthand experience with Hammers any increase in meat loss?

My meat loss has been less than previous hammer kills with accubonds, ssts and the older silver ballistic tips. All my kills with hammers, 4 deer and a bear, have done what I believe they should have done, but I have yet to recover a bullet as I get complete pass throughs with the body of the bullet and the petals appear to eject after entering the cavity as I have holes in everything in there. Nothing has traveled over 10 yards from shot impact. I am loving them so far.

I’ve got some 181hammers but haven’t done any load development with them yet.

Exactly what I would expect.

162 grain absolute hammer looks insane. With Hammers anything in that 150-166 grain range is on my target list. Light fast 5 projectiles.

It will be nice when Steve gets some load data going.
