300 PRC thoughts…

Any advice building one? Ive been wanting a 338 that can push a 265 ABLR roughly 3000 fps... out of a reasonably priced build
What is a reasonably priced build?
I would have to find a 338 lapua size action right?

You can probably get that rechambered. Or just rebarrel it

I own a 26” 300 prc and shoot 245 bergers over n570 at 2930 fps. It hammers at long range due to the very high bc and excellent accuracy. That being said, I would not want a light weight rifle in this combo as the recoil is significant, even with a muzzle brake. Mine current 300prc is 15lbs with a brake and is comfortable. My prior 300prc rifle was under 10lbs, with a carbon fiber barrel. While the light weight rifle was very accurate, it was challenging to maintain that accuracy due to the heavy recoil leaving no room for imprecise shooting set ups.
I just built a 300PRC and loaded 245Bergers over N570. Seeing what the 215s do. Really wondering how the 245s will perform on game. Does anybody have any 245s pics?

I took a bull this past season with a 245. There’s a picture on the first page. It did fine. Destroyed a lot of the front end that’s for sure. But it shot fantastic and the bull just did a faceplant and that was that

I’m in the 215’s are legit crowd…not elk but after two nilgai, I’m convinced.

I shoot them at 2900 in a 22” 30 Nosler, my hunting partner shoots them at the same speed in a 22” 300 prc. We’ve both been very impressed.

I saw one take it an oryx last week, legit destruction.

I’ve taken a few deer, a pronghorn , and a few elk with the 245 Berger. They are pretty devastating. They have the typical Peter performance with a couple inch neck length and then rapid expansion.

Not sure why youd need anything more than the 215. One shot at 640yds dropped my elk this year. He didnt twitch a muscle after he fell over backwards and slid down the hill about 75yds or so.
