300 prc 199 HH

Hey so I just built a 300 prc 24” 1-9t proof. On a Mesa summit TI action . I just ordered some 199 Hammer hunters and was wondering if anyone has any load data . Or velocity to expect? I will be using ADG brass and I have retumbo, h1000,Rl26 and n570 . Open to try any of them what do you guys think would be best

RL26 for max speed, h1000 for temp stability and barrel life. Retumbo might be getting a bit slow and n570 is too slow.

Thanks you.. do you have a rough number I would be looking at for speed with Rl26 and H1000?

300 prc was designed for heavies......you may have problems with bullet and jacket separation with that 1:9 twist

Probably won't have much trouble with jacket separation on the Hammer bullets though.

I am wrapping up a 30Nosler build myself and looking at the 199s. Have you made any progress on the load development?

I went with a 24” 9twist Bartlein carbon wrapped. Wanted it to be packable. It has a much longer freebore over SAAMI specs. I got a lot of my guidance from Ryan Furman since he has had several 30Noslers

Just checking I built a 20 inch 300 PRC and the only thing available from proof was one in 10 twist needless to say the 199 keyhole but it shoots 181s great

With the 181s I have pushed it to 3100 feet a second but backed it down to 3040 using R26

I built it to be suppressed the only thing now that worries me is I’ve seen quite a few suppressors on short barrel magnums blowing up

Not mine but my buddy is getting 3130 with 77.4 gr of RL26, 215M and ADG brass out of a 26" 1-9 proof barrel. So I suspect you should have a very accurate node well north of 3000 FPS.

This week I am doing ladder tests with HH 199 and H1000. Vih560. Bergara Highlander Premier 24" and 1/9 twist. Can share velocity results if you would like.
