I have loaded some 190gr Barnes Originals at ~2000 fps which is what I get from factory 170 corlokt and federal blue box in a 16" barrel at sea level. Very accurate, using a long eye relief 2.75 Burris and supressor. I've lived here for over 30 years and never killed a black bear with a 30-30. This might be the year.

As an FYI.. this was the recovered Federal Premium Trophy Copper (That's just what they call that product line) Roundnose Polymer insert projectile from underneath the farside scapula of the MuleDeer I mentioned above.

Remember.. entired body below ribs, blew hole thru Liver, decimated RHS Lung, came to rest just under farside scapula. Quite a lengthy path.

Hopefully not too far of topic but I would love to see some Leverlution's retrieved from game. Some of the ballistic gel tests I've seen show a good amount of fragmentation. I take those tests with a grain of salt and if they work that's what matters most. Bear is obviously different however, with Deer I'd want a bullet with less fragmentation. I recently picked up a 30-30 and I'm hoping that the Federal Hammer Down group well because they had great penetration, perfect mushroom and zero frag.

OP,
the 150 gr cup/core you use for deer will be just fine for bears. Shoot em broadside through both lungs, they wont go far.
