I would think that 8.5 would be ideal. The Kimber Hunter has 9 twist and I have read of people shooting the 168s with good results. So hard to say I guess.I see a lot of 1:9 factory guns. I would think a 1:9 would shoot most of your common factory loads. If you are looking to be on the heavier end of that go with the 1:8 or 8.5.
I have been looking at The kimber, browning, and Christensen. Out of those the browning is the only 8. My savage was a 9 and didn’t like the 168s so I thought it was a twist thing and dropped down to 150s. It was definitely better but not good. So I’m on the fence with is the 8 better or not. I think it was more of a bad rifle than twist.I would think that 8.5 would be ideal. The Kimber Hunter has 9 twist and I have read of people shooting the 168s with good results. Well that further confuses things and makes the decision that much harder. Let me know what you decide. Have thought about the pros and cons of each Brand you are considering? I think that the kimber would be the lightest of all brands that offer the 280 ai. I’d like to hear what everyone else has to say about the pros and cons.I have been looking at The kimber, browning, and Christensen. Out of those the browning is the only 8. The kimbers can need some tweaking to make accurate. Small things from what I have read. And it seems the lightest. Christensen is about .5-1 pound heavier but with a 26” barrel. All that I read says they are shooters out of the box. Browning is cheaper by around 700 bucks. But they are the heaviest.Well that further confuses things and makes the decision that much harder.
