Best thing I ever did was thread my .270 mountain rifle. Enjoyable to shoot even being a fairly lightweight rig.

SPANKS everything it’s ever been pointed at.
I got my 270 Blaser R8 off a friend and was just so-so on the calibre but bought it anyway. I never used it and I always thought it was pedestrian and boring. Then I started hitting deer with it and couldn't believe how fast it dropped everything. I was also under the impression that it wouldn't be a good LR round either and that also was not true. I have used it to almost 900 yards on wallabies and over 600 yards on deer.

My rifle is 6.3lbs and I decided to go with 1" Talley rings and a 3.5-10 Leupold. My next bid purchase is going to be a better scope.


As for the posters who think the 270 Win has too much recoil, they might want to try one suppressed. They are pussy cats with a can.
Without a suppressor, the 270 Win has very little recoil, I can’t imagine what it would be like with a can.
