I’ve shot everything from hand loads to core lokt to federal fusion (all in 130 gr) in my old Ruger .270. All work well on whitetail in the range you are asking about. Don’t overthink it. Put it in the right spot and they will die quickly.

130gr Nosler accubonds. Probably 18+ whitetail from 50 to 220 yards and only 1 has gone more than 10 feet. They stay together well.

I have a BAR in 270 that I just could not reload for, tried many, many loads and had feeding problems. It takes Interlocks just fine so that's what I stuck with over the years. I keep the rifle in MO where my property is so I don't get to shoot it a lot (live in WA). At 20 yards, the 150's, with a slightly misplaced shot can be meat devastating. Kills them real dead though. Looking to downgrade to the 130s.

The great thing about 270/308/3006 for whitetail under 250 yards is it just doesn’t matter.

Anything soft point/hunting/soft enough to break up in some way will work.

Essentially not fmj

My go to factory load is the 150 grain Power Point from Winchester because I like Winchester brass better than Remington. However I have shot a lot of deer with it and a couple elk. Works perfectly every time.
Yep, I've killed a lot of deer inside of 200 yards with that load, including my best ever buck. Shot him at roughly 70 yards and he dropped stone dead. Sighted in a new to me 1950 Model 70 with 140 grain Federal Premium AccuBonds. Killed at doe at 210 yards and she dropped in her tracks.
