25 Creedmoor 18" velocity?

I've been looking at the 25 Creed.
With quick drop in mind, @ 2660/5000DA, the 134 is 1805fps @ 780 yds and is within .1 mil of avg gun quick drop.

From what I've read here, possibly a 19" and definitely a 20" barrel will get 2660+ easily.

I have a 20” Proof MTR 25 Creed that’s a hammer with 134 ELD-M’s. I haven’t loaded them hot at all. I’m using Alpha SRP brass with 40.7 grns of H 4350. It’s a slow load at 2569, but I’ve only got about 80 rounds on this barrel so it will gain another 75 fps or so in the next 100 rounds. Even at those slow speeds, I’m still at 1800 fps at 650 yards, and it’s a freaking tack driver.

I also loaded up some Sierra 110 Tipped Game Kings. Using the same powder charge, I’m getting 2808 out of them, also with great accuracy. Both loads also shoot to the same point of aim, and I’ve trued them out to 600 yards and they’re within 1/10th both in wind and drop.

I’m going to push those ELD’s up to 41.7, which I think will net me 2750-ish fps once the barrel is broken in. Since I don’t really like shooting at game much over 500 yards it’s all kind of academic at this point.

I did kill a large bodied deer with the 134’s in South Dakota a couple weeks back, and true to their reputation, they performed flawlessly.

Very happy with this rifle, and it’s becoming my main squeeze for sure. Even over my Proof 223 Conviction, that’s another little hammer!

And for the 18” question, for most barrels subtract 35-50 fps and you’d be real close to the speed you’d get from a 18” tube. Of course brass used, and how tight the chamber and barrel are, will also have some bearing on the speeds achieved. For the most part, Proof barrels usually seem a touch on the fast side, but this barrel seems a bit slow in my opinion.

How do you like the ELR vs other chassis stocks or newer solid stocks like a McMillan or Rokstok?
Honestly I’m not sold a chassis for hunting just yet. I run a lot of manners UC/ EH3 type traditional stocks and I tend to prefer them on a dedicated hunting rifle. Most of my chassis shooting experience comes from long range back in the day on McRee’s and AI chassis and rifles.

I know it's kind of like Unicorn dust but has anyone tried RL26 with their 25 CM and any of the 130's?

My 22-250 is built on a Kelbly Atlas that is just to nice of a rifle to get left sitting in the back row of the safe and I have a 22in Proof CF 7.5tw .257 barrel that's been sweet talkin that 22-250 so I'm thinking about letting them mate and have a 25CM baby so my 25 SAUM can have a little brother.

The 134's shoot extremely well in the SAUM so I'll probably stay with those in a 25CM and it looks like y'all are gettin it done with them on game so there's no concern there.

I've got a good amount of RL26 stock piled and it has shown to shoot really well in everything I've ever used it in as well as some of the best velocities. Only time will tell but I'd think 2900 possibly could be achievable in a 25CM w/RL26 and the 134's but maybe that's wishful thinking.

Curious to see if anyone has tried it yet and if so what kind of velocity did you get.

Rl26 is the velocity king in the 25cm for sure. I was able to run 131 blackjack well north of 3k mv in lapua brass from a 25in barrel. We're talking 18, so probably mid 2800s. Supposedly a full case of N560 does great velocity too, but it's pretty temp sensative.

R26 upgrades all the Creed size cases. 22" isn't overly short so you'll be hitting very nice velocities. Additionally, R26 works in all barrel lengths--my experience with it in a 20" 6XC was great.

Rl26 is the velocity king
It certainly has in everything I've used it in so far. I'd have to sit and think a second to know for sure how many different rifles I use it in but I know I use more RL26 then all other powders combined. I started hoarding that stuff early on and I'm glad I did because it doesn't look like any is going to be available anytime soon.

khuber were you using small or large primer brass? I'm using Lapua SRP in my 6CM but with a 25CM I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to neck down LRP 6.5CM then neck up SRP 6CM brass. I neck down ADG 6.5 SAUM with a .284 bushing to make my 25 SAUM brass. Depending on how thick the necks are with Lapua 6.5CM brass I may use the same. Did you neck up or neck down to make your 25CM?

I use SRP brass in my creeds. Cci450 have done just fine for me, alpha with the large flash hole solved hang fires I was getting with lapua/rl26 in sub zero weather.

I've been shooting 25cm since the 131 ace bullet came onto the scene, 2018 I think was my first pair of barrels. I started with Peterson srp, then switched to lapua 65cm srp necked down. My reamer is for necked down 65 brass, 291nk, and alpha's 25cm brass is for the new saami 289 neck. Once you neck down lapua 65cm, or use the Peterson 25cm brass, they were all near 286 loaded neck.

Once alpha released 25cm I bought a bunch.
The new alpha was 2835 loaded, and didn't play well with my 291nk chamber, necks wouldn't seal up until I got pressure up higher than I wanted. So I sold it all, and necked down alpha 65cm srp and was back to my desired 285-286 loaded neck diameter.

Funny, I had this exact same experience during the exact same time. Rocking along with my Lapua brass--decided to get bougie with Peterson--went out to Colorado to shoot a NRL match and had to deal with sticky bolt lift every other stage for 2 days. Sucked. Kinda shelved 25 CM for a while and was wanting to try dasher anyway. Still have my original blackjack reamer. 25CM for a do-all still beckons me, but I'm invested in so many other cartridges at the moment.

I'll also note that I get hangfires with SRP 6.5 CM and Staball--not a problem with other powders, but I have considered going back to LRP for Creedmoor cases.
