Found a 5” Hammerli Forge for sale locally.
Price was below msrp, so I decided to pick it up based on the positive reviews from you guys.
Slick front strap and slick mainspring housing got some grip tape. I also put some extra G10 grips on that I had lying around.
The trigger initially felt about like the double action pull on a beretta. Heavy 8-10lbs. Clean break but heavy. I pulled the mainspring, and the problem was immediately obvious. The sear spring leaves had a ridiculous amount preset bending. There was also a heavy weight grease packing in and around the trigger bow, sear, and disconnector. Everything got cleaned up, and the sear spring set was adjusted.
New trigger felt crisp, about 4lbs.
Next I looked at the sights. Novak style, but 3 white dots. I blacked out the rear, and added a fluorescent green/yellow pain to the front dot. Pretty happy with the result. I’ll look at the Dawson fiber sights after a little time with these.

I lubricated with some lithium grease mixed with atf, and went out to the range after work.
Did my usual drills, cycling through both mags about 10 times. No malfunctions, good positive ejection. Good feeding. No light strikes. All shot with federal 40gr AutoMatch.
So far seems like a winner.
