22LR Bolt Gun - Action Recommendations

I have gotten into the idea that a 22LR trainer would cool to have - especially with my range only going to 200yards. Would also be good to allow my kids to shoot more. I am currently in the Rem 700 clone world for my centerfire stuff and so I want to stick to that for the 22LR and use existing chassis.

From my research it seems the three main options would be:

1) Bergara B-14R barreled action,
2) RimX and then order a pre-fit
3) Vudoo Three 60 barreled action

Obviously the Bergara is the most cost effective option and as long as I don’t end up buying one of the more expensive options down the road would be my preference from an affordability and availability standpoint. That would leave more money for ammo and optic.

But I also am of the buy once cry once mentality. The RimX seems easier to get and from what I can tell seems pretty comparable to the Vudoo in terms of owner satisfaction.

Thoughts and recommendations?

I went with the Bergara since it was priced right for me. I have several Rem 700 clones, so it was a good fit for an actual trainer. I set mine in another Manners stock I had, swapped trigger to a Triggertech like my other rifles and it's been great. Very accurate with CCI SV and SK Standard Plus.

You'll be fine.

The barrel is really heavy as a trainer for a field gun tho.

Otherwise its good to go.
I don’t have any plans to use it as a field gun… plans change of course. I am curious to try some nrl22 matches potentially.

I picked up a B14R Heavy barreled action in March, dropped it in a MDT XRS and have been shooting monthly NRL22 matches. It’s a great platform without dropping Rimx and Vudoo money. It really likes SK Match. Here’s a 21 shot group. Clean cold bore, low left, then 20 in the same hole.

I use a Tikka T1x .22 with 16" barrel and a Rugged Oculus suppressor attached. A very accurate and easy to hunt with combination. The Tikka is very accurate with several brands of ammunition.

I've been looking heavily at hunting weight 22LR bolt guns the past few months. CZ is always the standard people recommend, but they don't have a sporter weight, threaded, 16" barrel offering. This Tikka is tempting me.

They have two. Neither is ideal, but they have them. The Scout and the Royal are both threaded and 16” Sporter profiles.

Through some permutations and classifieds surfing, I currently have a Scout, an American walnut stock, and an American synthetic stock. So, my daughter can grow into whichever stock she prefers.

I also own a Royal. The downside there is that it has 1/2x20 threads, so it needs an adapter to 1/2-28.

That’s not an argument against the Tikka, just a statement of fact.

I also just bought a T1X from EuroOptic. My long term plan is to put it in a RokStok and then sell my Royal.
