Hey guys I have a Winchester m70 in 223 wssm with a 10 twist barrel. From what I can gather I’m only going to be able to shoot up to a 69 grain bullet. Probably going to try 69gr. TGK’s. Anything heavier has twist rate restrictions.
Is it possible to maybe shoot heavier bullets since it is a faster cartridge? Hornady is showing 36-3700 fps for 75 grain bullets. I live at about 3000ft elevation.

Thanks for any info, Kevin

I have a M70 in 223WSSM also. Really too bad they didn't make it in a faster twist to utilize a larger bullet. I haven't played with it for years but I remember trying a 70 grain Barnes TSX bullet. I know that was iffy. I'm thinking about digging it out of the safe and loading some 69 grain TMK's. I was using Varget at the time so probably try that. I'm at about 1300 elevation so that wouldn't help with the bigger bullets. I guess that it worth a try with the 75 grainers. I always thought a 65-69 grain in the WSSM would make an awesome antelope gun. Probably pretty good on at least deer also. I do know that the 65 grain soft point Sierra bullets did well.

Yeah I sure wish it would shoot 88gr tmk’s. That would be a killing combo. I’ll probably get some heavier bullets to experiment with
