223 vs 6 ARC vs 6 Creed

Hornady loads 88gr ELD-M in factory .22 ARC -- but not in .22 Creedmoor.
7 twist vs 8 twist on the SAAMI approved print. 22CM speeds the 88 ELDM isn't a fan of an 8 twist. At 22 ARC speeds, an 88 in a 7 twist shoots great. This is what I assume. Sounds like the 22CM should have called for a 7.5 ot 7.7 twist barrel for the heaviest bullets yet still not spin the light boys into dust.

The 223 will do what you need most efficiently.

If something else makes you happy and you don't mind the trade offs (predominantly cost to shoot), then go for it.

Don't think that matters for the ranges the OP is talking about.

Yeah, I know he doesn’t need it. But the trade offs for a factory 223 are that you are limited to its case capacity and length. A 22 ARC solves both limitations neatly. The only factor that even matters is cost per round, and that’s where the 223 eats the 22 ARC’s lunch. If cost were same-same, we’d have to go to mag capacity or factory ammo availability as deciding factors. I have not yet purchased a 22 ARC, but I may eventually. I do have several 233’s. But Hornady has my attention!

To answer your question - no. There’s no appreciable advantage in your use case. What’s the minimum caliber you can use for hunting in your state? If 243, then get something 243 cal and above. If not, get a 223 and shoot 77 TMK or 73 eldm.

Any gain shooting high BC heavy for caliber bullets doesn’t really matter 400 yards and in.
