That's my Bear Creek Arsenal pencil barrel. The Shaw is semi-retired at the moment.
How was your Shaw? My 6 arc must have been a lemon. It was pretty bad. 3-4 moa.

Yes, I'd also be interested in seeing a side-by-side of some 77s and 88s shot in gel at various velocities.Time for someone to cross section machine a 77 and 88gr tmk
The Shaw has been pretty good. Usually somewhere under 2 moa depending on bullet, but it seems fairly picky. It doesn't seem any better than the BCA though and works brass harder with the Wylde chamber. The 5.56 chamber of the BCA is tighter, so less brass stretching and less trimming after sizing. How was your Shaw? My 6 arc must have been a lemon. It was pretty bad. 3-4 moa.
My Shaw barrel was pretty disappointing, 3-4 MOA with factory Hornady .223 73gr ELDm's. And I have a bunch of that ammo![]()
My assumption is its just a picky barrel. I used a BCM upper receiver which are pretty tight. Had to heat up the receiver for the barrel to fit. Not sure of other variables that would be at play besides the barrel. I was pretty bummed, sold off a Savage Axis to pay for the project that shot 10 round groups at an inch all day long. Next project's gonna be a Tikka for sureOk so it's not just mine. I understand a gasser won't have the same accuracy expectations as a bolt. But dang.
Wouldn't be surprised if they had a tougher jacket to combat jacket failure with the fast twist larger cartridges that they'll likely be used in.Time for someone to cross section machine a 77 and 88gr tmk
Are you shooting these at AR mag length?88TMK - A little different?
Shot this sow last night. Broadside through ribs. Bullet broke part of off-side leg and stopped under far side hide.
Bullet impact would have been about 2,520 fps, or so.
Bear made it about 100 yards, which is fairly typical (although I've had some run a lot less).
The "different" part was the 88TMK retained about 55 grains (62+ percent of mass). I've seen ELD-M do that (last year's 75ELDM on a moose), but have never seen a 77TMK do that. Too early to tell, but the 88 might behave a lot different than the 77(???).View attachment 1085005
88TMK + bits of bullet + bits of bone from offside hide.

Yep I hope so too. Heck that Savage Axis would shoot PMC into 1.75" I was definitely not happyI would hope 3-4moa with a Shaw is just an anomaly/lemon type situation... I have 3 BCM uppers that do 2.5moa all day long with cheap PMC... 4moa with ELDm would make me big sad.

So your 6mm was a shaw also, interesting, mine was the 223 portless barrel for manual operating AR's.For more context...
It was a 6 arc 18". Load dev was a pain.
Wanted to "proof" the gun and thought well it should shoot white box Hornady pretty well if she actually shoots.
Dumped the entire box into a single group. It was probably just under 4 moa.
Of course Shaw only states they can hold 1 moa for three. Haha ok so what about three times enough to each 20 shots? Is the three repeatable? No.
Well, sort of. I'm using my Duramag 350 Legend AR mags which allow 2.325" and loading to that length. Are you shooting these at AR mag length?
