I have read and been following this thread for a while now, but still a novice on the whole bullet thing. Somebody dumb it down for me and tell me which bullet I should be looking at for whitetail sized game out of a suppressed sbr (barrel 10.5 or shorter), at shot distances inside 100-150 yards (Prob more like inside 50), with a mindset of more "knockdown power" or blood trail in mind (thicker, harder tracking woods). Have no problem at these distances of shooting a big buck in the neck if that's what needed for the knockdown power aspect but would like good performance on lung shot deer as my 7 year old son will be using it too. TIA

Doesn’t anybody have any more 55gr data points to share? I would post some but I had to swap scopes on my Ruger Ranch and I haven’t re-sighted it yet. Privi Partisan? Remington High Performance? Federal Power Shock? Winchester PP? Come on.

55grn Game King. 250 yards. 3,130 MV. It bolted about 25 yards after hit and folded.
This bullet is a solid performer when used with care. Lung shots can be relied on for deer. There will almost always be a death rush.

A high shoulder shot one at 325 yards. It went down quite quickly as I recall. I've never lost a deer with the 55 grn GK. And have shot a few with them.

Watched everything happen through the scope including the plum of blood from the pass through. Ran 60 yards with a quality blood trail.

223 75 gr RMR HPBT 160 yards estimate impact 2,450 fps. Abnormally fat WT doe ran 75 yards no blood trail or exit. Chest cavity was full of blood but plugged with fat.

Are you using the 55gr hollowpoint gameking, or the lead tip?

I didn't come up with that figure, it is the energy a 77 gr. Tipped Matchking has at 1800 fps. That appears to be the commonly accepted threshold of this thread to decide max permissible range.

As inferred by another poster, a 285 .338 eldm with 558 ft lbs is no bueno. A 73 .224 eldm with 558 ft-lbs muy bueno. The difference? Oh, yeah, impact velocity. KE didn't help with that problem, and despite repeating KE over and over, you still haven't attempted to use it to describe jack s--t. Backtracking what you've posted, all we have is bullet construction and...impact velocity . You've yet to demonstrate how KE is helping to determine results. Yes, ultimately it's responsible for the results, but not particularly useful in determining results.

It's listed on their website, I grabbed 3 boxes of the loaded 62 grain gold dot and it's a solid 3/4 moa load out of my stock tikka but once it gets back from it's ackly imp treatment I'll be trying the 75 eldm and 80.5 berger fullbore

73 eldm Small doe at 60y launched from 12” ar15 suppressed. Bad shot as I thought she was broadside but quartering to…it was pretty dark. Entered behind shoulder ran through guts about 20” did not exit. Found bullet in guts.

Zero blood at shot. Ran 20yd and crashed down the north slope about 80y. Hauling back up was tough. CNS shot are much better for my terrain but these always work.

Pulled bullets are available from time to time. I haven't seen any in a while but I haven't been looking either.
