.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

do you have to draw tags for stag? That’s so cool.
No I hunt most weekends year round. That a fairly good stag for public land (actually its good for anything thats not a farm animal being sold after being farmed for velvet for years). They do get better but if that was your goal in say a week of public land hunting more often than not you would be disappointed.

For those that reload, we need to start a 223 thread for ELDM, ELDX, TMK, etc.. bullets in the reloading section. Making sure to specify if you're using a bolt gun or gas gun. Seems like a lot of guys here are using bolt guns but there are a few using AR15 pattern guns too
I'd you do this tag it in this thread so I'll know to follow along

I think I could be happy in NZ

There are a couple already going. I think one had 77 tmk in the title, another might have rokslide special

No season or limit for deer, chamois, thar, pigs, goats, wild sheep, rabbits, possums and so on.
Plus masses of public land hunting area.
Hence a lot of us are hunting regularly

There is a season for game birds.
Wow that sounds nice. Is the lack of limit and season for deer there as a necessary population control then?

Yeah, they're all introduced species with no natural predators besides us.
In a couple farm edge areas I hunt It's not unusual to go out with a spotlight or thermal and see 10-20 deer in a short time, we'll clean them out and there'll be just as many again a month later.

It's great but if you think competing with other foothunters is bad try find mature animals when it's legal for commercial operators to shoot deer from helicopters. We have good populations if your willing to do the work (I start almost every hunt with 3000+ feet of elevation gain) but age class is pretty devastated from unlimited hunting opportunity. I couldn't go back to having seasons but it's not 100% utopia. I still very much enjoy hunting the US when I can.

For those who still question our choices you really need to consider the resulting wound is the means of killing, and it doesn't matter what caused it.

The first deer I shot with the 77gr TMK was a WT doe, about 90 yards, off-hand out of a 16" AR. I aimed to put it through the top of the heart. She started turning as the shot broke. Bullet exited, making as bit of a mess.
Why would anyone need more wound than this.

Is that the Exit?
