Picked up a Tikka 223 as a trainer on a whim, but also a smoking deal. Problem is, it has a 1:10 twist. I don’t want to reload, but want some decent ammo. Any recommendations on what to try? Would love to shoot the heaviest bullet possible but not sure if anything in the 60s would stabilize?

I'd try some 73 elds just to see wtf. Same for the 68/69gr bthp's

Wouldnt have a problem running around with 55-60ish sp's though

Would you use a vmax on a deer? I have no experience with this particular bullet.
I don’t have any experience with it on deer. Didn’t see that requirement in the original post. I just know that .224 10 twist Tikka barrels shoot those bullets very accurately.

I didn’t have it in the original post. Was more of just a curiosity. Regardless, I’ll have to try and find some of them to try.

I’ll have to see if it can find a factory load to try these.

Sorry not sure about the 60np in factory ammo, I had loaded it myself.

I have used the 50vmax on deer, it does kill them. Farthest was a doe at just over 400 and it didn't exit and she ran prolly 60yds and piled up. Wouldn't be my first choice but it will work.

Has anybody ever tried the 55 grain hollow point match bullets from Hornady? Particularly either of these loads.

It will shoot the 53 grain vmax lights out.
That stuff would be my first choice!

I shot a good amount of the Hornady Superformance 53gr Vmax ammo in my Rem LTR 223 1-9tw and that stuff shot crazy good. Had a 1-12tw Rem VSSF 223 and that same ammo shoot great in that rifle too.
