2026 Idaho Draw

When Utah made their changes to the application period, I had a guy bitch that he couldn’t apply sooner. Not bitching about the how long it took to get results but that he couldn’t apply sooner.

That was one of those days where you realize that some people are really stupid.

Maybe he was mad that his license was going to expire before the application period?

I pulled a second choice whitetail tag. My wife pulled a first choice general tag. Both tags are for the same unit.

What zone did you try for? MT draw is over 50% I think, its a much better draw than ID general anyway. Plus there is CO still.

Shhhh, Montana and Colorado are devoid of elk and chock full of hunters.

I would not be surprised if they wait to release full stats publicly close to next years application. Maybe they will release the total number of applicants earlier.

I also think it’s stupid they won’t take my money sooner.
January is a down month for me. Then I get busy with activities and usually have poor cell service.
I almost always forget and last min am scrambling to get apps in.
Just open is up and let me buy/apply what I want to.

I don't think it'll be that long. They released the 2025 controlled hunt stats well before hunting season last year. However, I don't think they will release the stats before the upcoming second draw next month.

No deer or elk tag for me, oh well. Will be interesting to see the draw stats whenever they release them. I figured the zones I applied for would be long shots so will be interested to see what the odds really were.

I swung for the fences in the elk draw and didn't have any luck. Fingers crossed I can pick something up in the second drawing but not holding out hope.

I drew deer for a unit around Salmon. I haven't been to Salmon before. I plan to enjoy the trip, do some hiking and fishing, and drop the hammer on the first mule deer buck I get the chance at (if I get a chance). I also plan to swing by Elmer Keith's Salmon house.

No it’s not. People need to read the fkn game regs. So many guys want to make decisions based on an app, YouTube video, social media, forums, etc., all sources that do not create or enforce the rules.
