2026 Goals

Looking forward to a Europe trip, varmint hunting and spending as many days as possible fishing the pacific! Highly recommend retirement, do it when you can. You’ve heard it before but there comes a time when you realize you need to take full advantage of the healthy years you have left.

Stay healthy

Help get my son started on his career path as a pilot

Help keep my daughter moving towards her career goals

Get out on a couple of camping trips with my kids

Work to keep my wife as stress free as possible

Get up to the mountains 1 weekend a month

Spend a week chasing elk with my bow

Shoot my rifle once a month

Get a weekend to chase muleys with the rifle

Consolidate my gear!

Next year is largely career goals I wont bore you with.

Probably buy a new house on an acerage, ideally the “forever home”

Do more long range positional shooting with a timer. The timed scores some of you guys hit in those drills is impressive.

Believe I will draw for Elk over in Alberta this year.
Season runs concurrent with the mulie archery season (I have the crossbow permit), so will likely pack both a Weatherby and my Matrix 380.

Need to find a new locale for whitetails - last one got shot right out. :(

And intend to spend a little more effort on our local Blacktails - passed on a few this year still hoping for a Big Boy.

Merry Christmas Folks!

I’m building a shop/garage on my Wyoming place in 2026.

2026 Hunting goals - explore a new area we came across this past fall in Colorado.
Should draw my deer and elk tags there in 2026

Probably use my 8 PPs for antelope in Wyoming

Ill draw my deer tag for my Wyo place.

That’s all for now

I the winter I write mining permits for clients. I hope to finish a bunch this year, mine gold on my claim, get my hay in, cut a load of larch firewood on the Idaho border, buy a new horse and spend at least 32 days on horseback chasing elk and deer.
I like your style lol. I’m looking for 20 lbs less with some regular walks and workouts. I’d like to find a way to bring my stud horse closer to home too.
Pheasant, quail and deer hunts in South Dakota, Texas, Kansas and/or Oklahoma on the wish list along with some prairie dogs/coyote time mixed in also.
Highlight of the summer will be some camping/horseback rides and maybe fly fishing on my best friends ranch in Wyoming. All seven of my adult children say they will be there for my 70th bash…
I also recently fell down the rimfire competition rabbit hole so I’m looking forward to getter better at dialing and reading wind…

Shoot a goat, moose, bear. Fly fish for tarpon, bonefish, steelhead and rainbows. Get a big king salmon on my fly rod.

Other than that, keep working out, don’t get injured, stay healthy, get stronger than ever.

For the last 5 years I've been in better shape going into hunting season than the previous year. This year I was way behind and tore my meniscus, requiring surgery on July 22nd. I all but wrote the season off but in reality was elk hunting August 15th.

Still unprepared and not in the best shape I've been in (still probably better shape than most) I was pretty hard on myself despite the circumstances and really lit a fire in me to be my best in 2026.

Ive lost a lot of weight over the last 2 years, going from 220lbs down to a stagnant 192lbs.

My goal by September of 2026 is to be lean and in athlete level condition.

My non hunting related goal is to be retired from construction and day trading full time by 2027.

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed with this thread. I expected to hear about somebody's goat(s) of a lifetime they expected to harvest in 2026 but they were shot out from under them this December.

2026 goals? Well, first off is focusing on my business to hopefully make it profitable, or be able to find a career field that I can enjoy to do and not work for myself anymore.

Try to do every goat count this coming year in the PNW and maybe up in Commie Land.

Seeing about going to the unlimiteds this coming year.

Get out and spring bear hunt this year, never made it out in 25, and truly enjoy it. Hoping to get out for a backpack hunt.

Try to do archery elk.

Work on being more fit for the back country.

Getting into a couple of handgun competitions and try to do 1 or 2 NRL hunters. Try to focus on finding somewhere in the mountains to also be able to shootout to 600-800 yards.
