Beautiful bull!
What state was this in? Looks like awesome country. My first elk, three years in the making. Epic creature, experience, and country. View attachment 931507View attachment 931508View attachment 931509
Definitely something to be proud of! Being solo were you doing any calling on your own or just trying to get in close and/or cut him off?Second year bow hunting and first ever elk. Morning of day 9. Mostly solo hunting. Colorado, zero point unit.
3 mile solo pack out with 600 ft of elevation gain in the first half mile puts the FU in fun.

Congrats!!!!Colorado OTC. Several years of Western hunting and it all seems to be coming together. Bull ate 3 30-06 Eld-x through heart and lungs at 400 and I caught him moving downhill at 75 yards and put him down. Buddy shot a cow 200 yards away so we had a long 24 hours of packing meat.

Need to know more about the bike pack out. Some serious bike nerd action happening, love it!View attachment 959951
Opening day in MT for my wife's first bull. She ran a masterclass on mental toughness after a nearly 21 mile, 2 round trip circuit between her bull and camp. Turns out you can kill elk in horse country, you just have to be stupid or crazy and have just enough grit.
Haha, no bike just a PackWheel. Pretty helpful little mechanism though, we were able to put the lite half of the bull on it with several camp items and just push our happy asses out. It was all single track and road with modest grade. That thing saved our butts from having to make another trip up the hill and I think I have become emotionally attached to it because of that.Need to know more about the bike pack out.
