I can finally post something on here after years of striking out!!! I got my first elk, a cow (good size I think). 6.5 PRC, 307 yard shot on an opposite ridge bedded and facing uphill away from me. Put the 147 ELDM through the paunch, both lungs, exited just forward of offside shoulder. She stood, leaned forward, and tipped over.

Finally got it done on my first bull this weekend. 3 years in the making and damn does it feel good. Shot him in the timber at ~45 yards with 7 rem mag shooting 162 eldx and dropped in less than 100 yards. Pretty surreal.

Opening day in MT for my wife's first bull. She ran a masterclass on mental toughness after a nearly 21 mile, 2 round trip circuit between her bull and camp. Turns out you can kill elk in horse country, you just have to be stupid or crazy and have just enough grit.

My best Wyoming bull to date, had a great hunt trying to get to the herd bull within a group of over 50 elk, we bumped several satellite bulls a couple times and thought we were done, but got up and went after them again and got into them. The most exhilarating 2 hours I’ve spent hunting in my life. No idea what he’ll score but he’s got some mass and length, 50.5” left beam, 53” right beam.
