2025 elk meat pole

I wasn't even going to go this year. Woke up Wednesday morning and looked at the reissue list just for fun. Told the wife "I ought to try for that tag". She said "go for it".

Actually got it. But couldn't leave until Thursday evening. Drove all night, waited on Walmart to open at 6:00am so I could get my tag printed. Got to my hunting spot a little after 7:00. Bull down at 8:50am. Quartered and in game bags by 12:30pm. Packed out by 2:30pm. Told myself "I think I can make it back home". That was a little ambitious. Had to stop twice for a 1 hour power nap. Pulled in the driveway at 4:30am.

600yds from the truck as the crow flies.

Got a cow 17 Oct. Opening day of first rifle was great with several bulls bugling around us. Then snow and high winds Wednesday night on. Shot her right at sunset, tag was too expensive to not use and I was the only one in my group to tag out.

Tonight was the last night I could hunt for the season, had two spikes came down the mountain, I stalked to within 165 yards, just then a herd bull came ripping up from across the field bulging with a harem of ten cows, but he wouldn't give me a @*(&^ shot.
Last legal minutes of light, last minutes of my season, full freezer and thankful to get it done!

It’s pretty hard to beat a spike on the table. Congrats on getting it done.
