2025 Blacktail Bucks

Finally got the cobwebs shook off and got this guy down yesterday morning in the valley

Anyone else feel like a ton of studs were taken last year and this year has been a down year? I could be wrong but where I am it seemed last year there were a ton of 3 or 4 points being taken and this year, many guys are happy to take a forky after seeing a lot of nothing.

I have definitely seen a lot fewer bucks this year compared to last and cannot find anything with some age at least in my area mid coast.

But I’ve also had way less time to spend out looking this year compared to last so maybe a connection there

Edit: I have seen a ton of deer in general this year
Also 2 logging operations going on out where I spend my time searching so maybe didnt help typical daytime movements

Tough life laying around growing bone and dodging Subarus!

Yeah I’m out on mid coast and in our particular neighborhood and around the lake we have had some droppers

Only thing that chases these things around are kids on bikes and old ladies walking their dogs.

Subarus aren’t all they be dodging in PDX, they might look like they have the good life, but I assume they would rather have been born in the most heavily hunted clear cut in the state than being stuck in Portland

Found this old revert buck last night. 6.5 prc first animal shot with an eldm. Did the trick at 100 yards

Neighborhood bucks are always the biggest bucks. Must be all the fentanyl, abortions, trans bathrooms and antifa that grow all that bone.

This buck was standing in my buddy's back yard a day or so after the season last year.

Hasn't seen him yet this year. He lives on the outskirts so he can shoot trespassers like this one.

Well, I hope he hasn’t been indoctrinated and is still attracted to does, because those would be some good genes to pass on. That buck is probably 6+yrs which makes him fair game for brain washing in pdx

They have had some amazing bucks on the property where she works over the last three decades. They also have to run a gauntlet of goose shit to get in the building as well.

That is insane, what a cool buck. Biggest problem with shooting that deer is that you would never be able to top your yard buck

I've been hunting the mid cascades here in OR and I've definitely seen way fewer bucks compared to last year. I do think last year was unusually good though.

After sticking it out out through some nasty weather this guy showed himself. 495 yard and the 6 creed dropped him where he stood. My best blacktail yet.

Any thoughts on his age? My buddy believes he has had him on trail cam for at least the last 4 years as a 3point+
