2025 Blacktail Bucks

Figured I'd fire up a thread for blacktail hunters to share bucks!

Check this deer out. Shot him on August 7th. We were out of SEAK, and I am so curious if he's a young fella that was real heavy or old dude that didn't grow well. I pulled teeth so we can all find out in a few months.

Good look to all the rest of the blacktail hunters out there. This was my first trip, but I could definitely see more blacktail hunting in my future!

Looks older to me, but hard to tell of course. Big time jealous, early season Blacktail in AK is an incredible experience

Agreed! It was awesome. I hear the rut hunting can be a blast, too!

Opening day ABC Island buck. As stated by OXN, early season in the alpine is absolute magic.

Thank you! A-zone is definitely early. That said, I was still surprised to get a velvet buck in rifle season. It isn’t typical in most parts of the unit.

I filled one tag opening morning . There was a bigger guy hanging with him .. the kid was supposed to shoot either way grilled heart for dinner opening night

How wide and tall is he?

Heres one ive been playin cat and mouse with for 3 years, rattled in and missed (old bow bad set up and tune), ran into him 15 yards last year packin out another buck, then later in season seen him again but no shot.

Not the biggest ive got around but man I really want this buck with the history, puttin up a stand at the busiest pinch point in this place on wed. Got 100s of pictures of him on different cams.
