Got out after some farm birds today. He was very methodical when getting close to birds and didn’t crash through any while searching. He was also surprisingly steady to flush, shot, and fall. Only gave chased the one bird I missed. Woodcock is open here now so hopefully I can get him on those soon too.

Second year going to SD. Hunted hard both times with just okay success but feels like we’re finally getting it figure out. Limited in an hour on a CREP field on our last day.

My oldest draht made a nice retrieve on a rooster downed in an iced over pond. He also made a nice point and held a bird right after for a few minutes…. Don’t ask why I don’t have a picture of that bird.

Long weekend getaway with the wife that included solo hunts in the mornings. The dog work by Otter was great. The shooting left plenty of room for improvement.

well, i guess we do have a duck toller, but that prissy dog aint about to jump into 38 degree sea water to chase down sea ducks! haha

Annual trip with friends and family to Eastern SD. Hunted 5 days. Dogs are shot! Didn't even get out of bed this am to come eat. Great hunting and a great time. Moved 2 covey's of quail this trip. First quail I have seen here in 30 years.
