Looks like you guys had a great day!We took my buddies 11 year old son in on his first backpacking hunt. 5 bears in 36 hours and he got to watch his dad roll one out of the berry fields.View attachment 937705
Nice looking bear and rifleCoaxed this sow out of the trees with a fawn bleat call last night. Oregon coast range. I heard the unmistakable sound of a bear messing around and the wind was good. Shot from 70 yards, they dropped where they stood. Always the best feeling.
That’s impressive! Congrats to both of you!7 year old daughter took her first big game animal , a 7’ Alaskan grizzly with a 338 win. Proud dad right here. Fresh tenderloin was delicious.![]()

Shot my first bear on 10/5. Took 12 pp for the northern WI tag.
You’ll have to report back! I enjoy that info too.Biologist said she was very old, extremely worn down teeth. Montana FWP let's you know the exact age of bear so I'm excited to find out (in a year or so).
I went with dogs 6 days. We ran 5 bears, 4 of which didn’t tree even after 20-30 miles of being pushed by the dogs and on the 5th another group’s dog got in front of us and messed things up. The group I was hunting with kept their baits going after the dog season closed and I shot this one of my second sit over bait. Was really hoping to see one tree but the bears in the area just wanted to run circles in the swamp.Nice! Congrats. I think I’m at 8 points. Did you use dogs? Always wanted to do that with dogs later in life.
