2025 Bear success thread

Coaxed this sow out of the trees with a fawn bleat call last night. Oregon coast range. I heard the unmistakable sound of a bear messing around and the wind was good. Shot from 70 yards, they dropped where they stood. Always the best feeling.

Edit: the front teeth in between the canines are worn down to nothing, excited to find out how old she was. My bear last year was aged at 13, I'm guessing this one must be older since last year's bears tooth wear wasn't nearly as extreme

Nice looking bear and rifle

7 year old daughter took her first big game animal , a 7’ Alaskan grizzly with a 338 win. Proud dad right here. Fresh tenderloin was delicious.

Always get the bear tag when in AK. This guy was eating on a dead caw moose. 180 yd shot then 2.25 mi pack back to camp. 21” 3/8” camp measurement on the skull. I’m thinking 400 lb

First Black Bear. In Montana with 7mm PRC at 350yrds, dropped her instantly.

Biologist said she was very old, extremely worn down teeth. Montana FWP let's you know the exact age of bear so I'm excited to find out (in a year or so).

So amazing! Definitely something for both of y'all to be proud of!
I'm sure all the kids at school are jealous, my wife would never let me do that.

Little late to the party. Shot this brute on the 7th of September (full moon). My first bear. Had been chasing them in the spring and fall with my bow, trying to find a 7 footer. Shot him out of a deer blind, I think he was coming for the fresh 11 rooster carcasses I had placed out there that day. 30 yard shot with my 7mm and I felt like I cheated him. Woulda been PY if I brought the bow that day. No way I could have shot him out of that tight box blind though. I’ve since made a $700 investment in hang on and climber tree stands!

Wednesday we had a bit of a rodeo. My 12yr old daughter shot her first bear (second big game animal) around 3:30pm. It fell in a creek and we knew we didn't have time to take care of it before dark since we'd have to hike out to get other gear first, so we left it. Decided to go on a casual evening ptarmigan hunt, and my dad killed his bear 30 minutes before dark! We've had a long couple of days doing recovery work, with a bit of hypothermia thrown in for good measure. I passed on an 8' yesterday morning while finishing the recovery of my daughter's hide with the help of an amazing friend.
