2025 - any new suppressors to hit the market?

I've never seen an AB raptor in real life and haven't looked at the reflex interface in detail so excuse my ignorance - but by having it modular like they do they add some weight and lose some volume vs a non-modular reflex where the reflex doesn't screw on and off?

It adds weight for sure due to the internal mounting solution they use. However i havent specifically weighed it alone so i cant say how much more than a direct thread back cap it weighs. Obviously there's some extra titanium there also. Overall, I feel like it's extremely light for what it is and they did a good job.

The face of the reflex is broken into 3 or 4 chambers, that's what it looks like on the surface. I'm unsure if it opens up into one chamber or not once it moves rearward. They could have done that to add rigidity at the threaded portion where it butts up to the main suppressor body or it could carry all the way to the back of the reflex.

Any reflex can is going to run into the same design issues whether it's removable or not. You have to recess a mounting surface in there and by nature that's going to decrease volume. AB does this by using something that looks like a bastardized brake thats made into the reflex portion and extends into what would be the blast chamber on a normal can. The bigger the barrel OD you make them for, the less internal volume you get as well which I will be interested to see how UM tackles that.

Ill post some pictures tomorrow for you. I actually have the reflex portion stuck on my 300prc now. When I unthreaded it, only the body of the can came off. Tried a strap wrench but no go. I put it in the safe to fight another day. This is the first and only time that's happened in 3yrs of owning it.

Is it me or is modular really only cool if you rarely shoot and dont have to deal with carbon in the can? Sounds like a cool idea in theory less so in practice.

Edit: nevermind.. that thing is 20 oz with no mount and without the extension added to it.

I am not a modular fan, but some people like it. This seems more geared towards people that want to run one can on some gas guns in the short config, low back pressure, but also want an option for a long, quiet can for a bolt.

And that weight is for the current infinity - the one in the link is Ti and should be 10oz short, 14oz long, according to the post.

I feel the same. My modular cans got permanently carbon welded along time ago. I would be all for it if they they protected the threads from carbon and you could actually take them apart. The area 419 hell fire& sidewinder system with a oring does a good job of this with my Tbac cans mounting threads. The oring needs to be replaced often if you shoot a lot but that’s fine with me. Although I feel like there’s probably a better solution.
Also I wouldn’t think modular cans are good fit for guys running 16-18” 6UMs and similar cartridges in short barrels. Generally modular cans are weaker in design have longer minimum barrel length ratings. But that might be changing with newer designs now.
