How many miles on each?
About 190k on mine, and 170k on his.
Mine just died as I was coasting up to a stop sign and wouldn't start. Poked around a bit and tried again, she fired up and I eased her to my mechanic and left it with a note, it was the weekend. When they got to it, they found glitter in the fuel filters.

My buddy just got spooked about the possibility of it letting go and ordered the aftermarket pump and when his mechanic got into it, found his was just starting a disco party, too.

Apparently they use the CP4 in Europe with no trouble because they are not forced to use Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel. Thanks, EPA.
Fuel additive is your friend.

I’m at 137k on my 2013….

Looking at spending $400 for the S&S disaster prevention kit. Figure if the pump goes I’m out $2k anyways rather than $10k for a whole fuel system

Funny how many times I hear this. I've worked as a PM here at a Ford dealership for the last 24 years and it is not as common of a failure that the internet says it is, sure it happens but not nearly as often as others make it seem.
It ain't so much that it's so common...

But a cp4 failure will trash the rest of the fuel system too.

(240k ish on a 2012)
