2024 British Columbia Buck!

Unfortunately I forgot the back straps in my garage fridge and then went off to work for a week. Does anyone reckon they will be OK aged that long? They've developed a tough-ish dark exterior but no smell or slime.

This weekend I took my 6 year old on her first rip to western Kansas. Hunted 3 days for one stalk and thankfully was able to make it count. She was with me every step, including hands and knees crawling for the last 100 yards, getting him into game bags, and the pack out (2 trips!). Easily one of the best days of my life.

Shot him first light on opening day of CO 4th. I had scouted a couple competing bucks in this draw for the last few days. All came together as the sun came up. Double lung with the 6.5 SAUM 142 ABLR at 285 yards. Broke a rib, fractured the tips of both scapula and he still ran 110 yards (didn't see where he ran after the shot, only after I found him) out of the draw and uphill with no blood trail! Took 4 hours to find him and he was only about 150 yards from where I had originally shot. Crow got to him before me and got an eye. This is by far the worst smelling animal I have ever dealt with! Rear hind shanks were completely covered in multiple layers of frozen rutting buck piss.
