Thanks everyone. Truly lucky that I ran into him. Guessing he will go in the 130’s. I’m hoping he makes 135 so I can have my name in B&C. That would be pretty sweet, obviously not necessary.
I think he’ll make it, the only deer I have scored was a big 3x3 I killed with my bow, and he was pretty narrow and he scored just shy of 133”

I don’t see how your buck will not score better, I’m guessing he will easily make it

Thank you for that. Your 3pt is really heavy! I’ll report back after he sits a few months with the taxidermist.

Great bucks everyone!

After passing up bigger bucks in easier locations, yesterday it turned into forky-oclock for me too, since it was my last day to hunt.
I have no problem shooting a smaller buck than I passed earlier in the season, max amount of days in the woods and a full tag is great for me. I hate filling my buck tag before the 20th.

We do like eating deer or I would probably never kill one, just hunt the whole season 😏 160” or bust, haha

We had a buck put the slip on us at last light tonight he was cruising and not stopping, tried to cut him off but it didn’t work

I think the last day is her last chance, I hate it’s almost over

That’s a monster 3 point, I bet that was something to see at bow range. I would have had a hard time keeping my composure. I can pull it together for bulls, but bucks are a different story.

Well, my wife was working yesterday and her dad was trying to get her to leave early because there was a nice buck at the farm, but neither of us thought much of it, and she likes to stay consistent at her business and not be gone when she is supposed to be there

I was going to meet her at the barn, I went early to clean my stall and help let the horses in, and when she got off my father in law said he was close to leaving but still around, so we grabbed the shotgun and headed up to see if we could make a stalk (in our street clothes of course, haha)

We got up there just in time to see him going into the timber, and it was getting dark in the trees, so probably not going to work but we were there so we decided to try

We get into the timber, side hill to about where the buck was, and saw nothing. I decided we had nothing to lose, so I’ll try to snort wheeze, so I do, and hear him coming back down the hill towards us… wow, this could work

He stopped out of sight, I figured he could see where we were and didn’t see a deer, we waited a bit and I snort wheeze again, and heard him take a couple steps towards us again which surprised me… we might still be in the game

Same thing, wait awhile in silence and snort wheeze, and he won’t commit, but he is still there and slowly closes the distance, but not fast enough, and we are losing light in the trees.

I decided to get aggressive, and start thrashing brush as much as I can, snort wheeze again, with as much rasp as I could, then back to thrashing brush like I’m calling a bull, and here he comes, and I can tell he’s committed this time and tell my wife to get ready, he’s coming!

Here comes that white face and heavy antlers, and he just keeps coming, full commit and visibly mad, and came to 12yds before taking a slug frontal… holy smokes I can’t believe that worked!

Probably the last way I ever imagined her tag would be filled. It was one of the coolest blacktail encounters I’ve ever had, and once again, she whacked a bigger buck than me, which I love. It was a complete spur of the moment impromptu hunt that ended with a dandy old buck laying less than 15yds when the smoke cleared… I would have never guessed a farm hunt could be that intense

It’s incredible how hunts unfold sometimes, and rarely the way we envision them. Congrats to both of you on an awesome buck and a hunt you’ll both remember forever!
