2023 Blacktail Success Thread

Oops to those who think Sitka Blacktails are small deer never had to move one through the brush for a couple of miles

Those deer are incredible! I literally have dreams about bucks like that. I’ve got to quit talking about it and get a Sitka hunt planned.

Hey Thankyou brother! Sitka blacktails are very special. You will have some life long memories if you decide to hunt them.
 
Great deer all! I killed a pretty good 142" Blacktail in the Applegate muzzie zone in Oregon, but in 2022. Definitely makes you want to hunt that unit again, but the change to season dates, I heard, really impacted the hunt.
 
After one hell of a vertical climb into a bowl up into the armpit of hell and a run in with a mountain lion, I managed to take this guy at 35 yards with my 300wm. The pack put sucked twice as much. I'll never forget that hunt and this is one of the most special deer I've taken.
