Last day of the season for us in Michigan today. Maybe the last time I get to hunt behind my 12 year old GSP. This was our 4th day straight hunting and 5th out of 6 days. Horrible rain/terrible scenting conditions most of the week, old dog kept chugging along as he always has…Got rewarded with a bird right at dusk today after being skunked all week. Felt like a gift from the bird Gods…

This has been my favorite thread on here to follow. Thanks for everyone contributing some great pics. Kills me sometimes to see the variety and quality of bird hunting you guys get to experience in the birdier states… and some great dogs too.

Happy New Year to all…

Final weekend success with her first wild rooster- She did her part on 3 more roosters in easy gun range throughout the day, but I didn't uphold my end, rocking the final 2 and calling it a day after "limiting out".
Very happy with how her first season went and counting the days until next season!

Ran solo for Christmas this year so decided to make a long weekend trip to the better side of the Divide here in Montana. Started with the best morning of duck hunting I’ve ever had. Pheasants were tough, but got a great flush and retrieve on what would be the last rooster of the season for us. Got to see some sage grouse too which was cool.

Grouse season is closed so now training days close to home. Be hunting pheasants the next few weekends when I'm not on call. Checked some new pastures today, looked like good Hun habitat but didn't find any. Pretty day

Still getting after it. Pipers favorite time of year. Snows getting deeper, giving her the chance to root em out of the cattails.

Question. Hate wing shooting with gloves on. But temps in the teens with a stiff breeze a guy needs something.

Tried a pair of sitka mountain gloves, and they were just ok for the situation.

Used to use a thin pair of kangaro skin leather gloves that were a dream. Can't seem to find anything similar lately. Any suggestions.

I have a problem and tend to collect gloves... My favorite gloves for upland hunting are probably the Shale Hybrid gloves from First Lite. Pyke also has some good ones. The leather is more supple and grippy on the Pyke gloves and they do have 2 options, one is thinner than the first light gloves, the other is warmer. The First Lite ones just fit my hands a bit better. Both have gotten better with use as they break in.

Gloves preferences vary wildly because fit is different for everyone.

I use Mechanix gloves. You could try the winter version but I just use the regular glove. Works for me until it gets down around and below zero.

Kuiu makes some nice gloves that I use when its cold and windy. No problem with the trigger guard on any of my shotguns. I will dig them up and find the model.
