Had an awesome hunt this morning! Found a turkey gobbling at 0615 as I was walking around a field. I set up shop probably 100 yards from where I suspected him to be. On and off calling to him and him responding for about an hour. After about 0730 it went quiet until a rooster crowed and I guess the Tom shock gobbled to my left, so I hit a soft couple yelps, in walk two big hens and I just watched them, then a couple more. Next thing I know this guy came strutting in all blowed up it was amazing, got him about 25 yards dropped with the Winchester SXP. Bird was 22 pounds, 11 inch beard, and 1 inch spurs. Couldn’t be happier!

Congrats. I love chasing turkeys. Almost went to SC this year with BHA but ended up deciding on going to Wyoming with my brother to chase Merriams.
That ain’t a bad choice! I want to run down to Florida for an Osceola sometime in the future. I am doing an elk hunt this year so most of my vacation is tied up in that or else I’d slide down there while I wait for the first ten days to finish up of turkey season. We can only kill one gobbler first ten days in SC.

I wanna hunt them there as well. Good luck on your trip!
