Let’s get this post started! After the fires ruined my bear hunting plans last year, we retrieved what was left of our trail cameras. Two disintegrated, one melted, one had the card swiped, but one had a gold mine of bears, deer, and some surprises.

Post your scouting efforts and don’t forget to pick up those bear tags!

Big Red made it through hunting season. Yes, that’s him with two mallards as they’re taking off.

I have 9 cameras between 7500 and 8000 feet. There is a 10 mile stretch of forest service road to drive that is closed before I could start hiking the 2-4 miles where the cameras are located. USDA current Snow Depth site shows 59 to 98 inches of snow in that area currently.

I'll take snow over them disintegrating in a forest fire! Just bring batteries and fresh SD cards.

We have a couple good bucks on camera. Notice the ear tag. Picture is from July.

That's awesome stuff. I'm going to put some time into tracking down a bear this fall. I've never really dedicated time to it but with the lack of water this year I imagine the early part of my duck season will be a suck fest so I might as well trade out my waders for the Mountains.

Nice! It's time to scout. Checking cameras Saturday and putting some more out.
All my cams are set up on a zone deer. Knock 1 or 2 out then focus on bears all year. I’ve got priv I can hunt for deer n pigs. With gas prices I’m forced 😁 to turn weekend trips into 4-5 day trips. So I’ll be able to put in 25+ days I think.

Went on a scouting trip this weekend for bears and deer. Found this sow munching on green manzanita berries when the thunderstorm moved through. Will post some trail camera footage later. Had to freehand video through binoculars, although she came within 80 yards at one point.

How's everyone else's bear scouting going?

Haven’t scouted much this year, just got the cameras set up last weekend. Saw a nice blonde colored bear right off the highway. If I get a bear during deer season I’d be happy but probably going to wait until deer closes so there’s less people out there.

What deer tag? My buddy drew an X zone archery deer tag. Will be a fun archery season with three tags in our pockets.

I’ll be in C zone for Deer this year, bear too. Also going to get started earlier this year with B zone archery. Haven’t made up my mind yet either B2 trinity or B6 in the siskiyous. Should have a good chance for both this year!
