24 years of applying for preference points in GMU 61 in Colorado. I only got in this year due to a re-issued tag.
That’s my outfitter/guide. Besides the head and antlers, he packing out a hindquarter. He’s a stud. The euro mount weighs just shy of 22 lbs.
I was dragging up the rear with a measly front quarter
Deadline to enter for 2022 is December 10th, so get them in.
if your harvest after that, you’ll have to wait for the 2023 contest to go live in July.
And by the way, if your entry disappeared, you broke the rules. I’ve hand held for 6+ years on this now, so we’re deleting ineligible entries with no notice. We don’t have time to track you down to fix it.
My first trip to Arizona and I put in for a unit that I could hunt NOW as a non resident knowing my chances were slim to none especially on a 6pt bull that I could bring back to MT.
DIY solo bull from NM. I found this bull while scouting 4 days before my hunt. I knew he was really big from the first time I saw him. I stayed on him the best I could for the next 4 days. The night before the opener I hiked in deep and camped on a side hill close to the last place I saw him. Saturday morning I was up early. I spotted him bedded just after daylight. I knew he was big but I had no idea he was an absolute giant until I walked up on him. A hunt I’ll never forget. The pack out took 3 days.
My 2022 Idaho archery bull. I found this bull in late June and keep tabs on him during the summer. Second day of the season, him and a group of cows were using a particular wallow and I made the best of the situation.
My bull ended up being my second biggest bull to date. That being said I am more excited about watching my kids get addicted to this sport of elk hunting. I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.
