2021 Rokslide Cold Bow Challenge Question/Comment Thread

Robby am I missing the qualified list somewhere?
Hi, it's not done yet. Don't worry, if you did something wrong, you'd have already received a PM to fix it. We've only kicked out like 2 people and that was because they won't answer requests to fix.

Talk soon!

Finished up my last shot this morning. Time to resight my pins and start shooting the course here at the house! Thanks for a fun challenge.

Waiting on a new sight to show up, are there still slots available or did I miss out?

Far as I have seen it's still waiting on 200 shooters.

I didn't see an announced close date, just a number. After a while they might give a time period to have your 5th arrow done by.

@robby denning should be along to give the certified answer to the question.

@CREillY

State a target size for what you are trying to hold your arrows in. Generally something like 6-8" for deer. If that's what your intended target is.

If your target size is the white dot I guess your just turkey hunting.

Thanks for all the members jumping in and answering peoples questions. Sam stated it, there’s a few more slots left, and will close it when it hits 200. Then people will have the 30 days to get their final arrows in. If we get down to the last five days and people are not shooting their arrows, we may ask him to leave the challenge if new people want to come in.

I haven’t shot since last week. Stepped up this morning with a cold bow and nailed it. Shooting better than I was in the challenge. That’s how it always is. Ha ha

I'm shocked it's not full yet. It really lit a fire for me to get better so I've been shooting a lot more. I might try and enter a second time before it's over if there's still space lol

You can enter both trad and compound to double your chances. It’s almost full. Everyone was off work last year so it filled fast.

Haha sure there's at least a week to learn how to shoot trad ;) And buy a trad bow, arrows and all the other stuff I don't know about.

Edit: I just realized I already have a trad bow...

First shot. It’s a $19.99 cabelas special my son was happy with when he was 3. I had to switch from the chubby field points to the pointy ones to get them to stick in the target. Using some 300 spine Easton axis arrows with the iron will titanium collar and nockturnal nocks.
My MER is 6’. Yes that’s six feet. Aiming at the center dot.
Today’s squirrel ran free...

Hi all,
For all of you that have not finished up, Make sure to post those pics! we have quite a few people with 4 arrows.
Straight shooting!

OK Roksliders. @Travis Bertrand worked hard along with help from @realunlucky & @Howard Mee on the list and this is what we know right now:

There are 15 spots open, and 19 people have not finished their 5 shots.

If you're wondering if you've actually qualified, we don't have that list ready to publish yet BUT we've PM'd everyone if there was a problem so if you don't have a PM, I'm 95% sure you're qualified.

We'll have that finals list soon.

Thanks

Shot my 5th and final arrow this morning... Just like last year, I learned a few things. I think next year I am going to use the same MER but travel around to different public lands and set up my target there in different situations. In addition to changing weather conditions, hunting is just different than practice. While I hit my killzone each time, weather and light conditions really impacted how I felt about each shot. I imagine limbs, angles, and more wind would humble me and help train the brain to work through the variables.kjh.jpg

Thanks again @robby denning, @Travis Bertrand, @realunlucky, and @Howard Mee for putting in the work to set this up and execute it!

You’re welcome. And you’re right, if you stick with the same MER, but try different angles and places, it changes it quite a bit. I did that last year on my last shot.
