Thanks Trumpkin. Seems listening to you and other traditionals that it’s more perishable than compound shooting.

Very much so. We don't have the benefits of draw stops, releases, bubble levels, or peep sights. Repeatable alignment is entirely dependent on our body's skeletal structure being manipulated into an optimal position. The better I get as a shooter, the easier it is to pick up a cold bow and be accurate, but it's still very perishable.

First timer to the CBC and just wrapped up. Got closer and closer to the perfect shot each day. Went from missing the target to what I would say would be a heart shot. Really enjoy seeing everyone go through the ups and downs of shooting just like me. Now time to really dial in the sight!

My first shot today (not for the CBC, but at my MER) was still a kill, but barely in the zone. And my shooting was generally poor today. More validation that 5 days without practice is not healthy for stickbow skills. I have the ability to make it work for 5 days, but it's not a good position to be in. Thanks again @robby denning and the rest of the Rokslide crew for putting this on every year. I learn something new every time I participate.
Man you ain’t kidding. My release goes to heck. Play mental games with myself at full draw that causes target panic a little too. Last couple shots I was more “clean headed” just focusing on back tansjon and the shot and the shots were generally better. I shoot a couple dozen arrows daily in my garage and try to get extended practice about 3/week usually. I enjoy the commitment it takes though.

Wrapped up my first CBC with a 3/5 finish. Will definitely be practicing more with broadheads at odd yardages until fall. This was a great challenge and eye opener for ways to improve how I practice. Good luck to the remaining shooters.

So cold bow is over for me as of yesterday’s single arrow. Never shot any more arrows. Walked out today, just like I was doing a sixth day, nailed it. And today was the most wind I shot in during the entire Challenge. Two arrows in a row. The nerves get to me when CBC is open.

Not sure if you guys of followed Randy Ulmer‘s shooting this year in the lead post? I think it’s pretty cool a guy like him can just fess it up when he knows his MER needs to be cut. He didn’t say a lot other than he’s just a little shaky this year. Pretty cool that he would still come out for the challenge. And looking at his group, I’d say he’s doing just fine.

I like your elk set-up.

Last year I shot my vertix at 75 lbs with axis 260 and 1.5 sevrs, took a nice mountain goat. However, I felt the draw was a little harsh and went back to 70 lbs with 300 axis. I just shoot the bow better at 70 lbs as well. Nice work!

Thanks for putting this together. Whether or not we, (archery hunters) are taking part in the cold bow challenge I think this is an awesome practice to put in place, so we can understand our limits then shatter them. It looks like this encourages a ton of growth in shooters. Thanks again.

Just finished up my first CBC. I feel I got better every shot. Gained confidence gonna keep practicing some longer shots. Try and tighten up. I like this concept. May just keep doing this once a month. Thanks guys.
