2021 bird season

Got the family out grouse hunting today. We do an annual trip with all the kids, mamma and the dogs and spend all day out there. Most people shoot our spruce grouse with .22 but I love chasing them in the thick with the dogs.

Headed back up north for a few days. Managed to get into some birds. Very few woodcock yet. Heading back next week to Hopefully find some flight birds

Those setters look great in the field. Nothing as pretty as a setter on point

I live in the better grouse area of Alaska but our population cycle is at the bottom and beyond so I'm not shooting any.

It's a Dickinson estate 20 gaufe. Nothing to fancy with it but it shoots well and is great in the grouse woods with its 26 inch barrels.

My bird season starts next week. Cleaning out the truck from a CO elk hunt and getting kennels and other dog gear loaded up. Driving up to Iowa for a few days with my young GSP and we are driving over into SD to find some new places to hunt. Looking forward to it.

Punched my first ever Turkey tag last week! Heading to Nebraska Tuesday for a three day stretch chasing duck and pheasant with my GWP pup Bennie.

Ps: my buddy found the 'yote skull when we walked out to pick up my bird.

Sorry to hear about the pup. My old GSP has done TPLO surgeries in both legs and bounced back strong. Definitely gets sore after long days, but it’s manageable. The pup will be back in no time.
