Tomorrow, I'm taking my father-in-law on his first ever hunt. Will be doing some quail hunting down in Florida. Hopefully will have some success and get him a few birds.

got back a short while ago from hunting Florida quail with my father in law. He is in his mid 70s, hasn’t shot a gun since he was a teenager and had never been hunting before. We started the afternoon going over gun safety, and getting some practice in on clays. After about an hour of basics, we went out into the field. Spent 5 hours hunting with our guide and his two pups. Has a great day, we put up 16 birds and were able to put down 13 of them. Father in law got a bunch of shots off and put down a few birds, was worth the price of admission just to see his excitement. We were able to salvage 10 of the 13 we put down, got home and prepped them for Xmas dinner. Probably my last hunt for 2020, although I may try to sneak in one more duck hunt before the new year.

Oh for those wondering, in south florida, this hunt was with QHF Ranch in Palm City. The place is run by a guy named Chad Bumb. They are really accomodating, have friendly guides, really nice grounds and great pointers and flushers.

Just got back from my first hunt camp out in WY. I’m from New York and have only hunted out west once (sept ‘19 Black Bear). My first hunt camp was a dual hunt - Mule Deer and Antelope. The trip was with my uncle, who introduced me to hunting. We have been planning to do a hunt like this together for years. Given the state of the world at the moment, it was an incredibly special trip that we will both never forget. Wanted to share some of the photos and thoughts with the rokslide community for my first ever post.

We went for a 4 day hunt, and were very fortunate to have seen a lot of really nice animals and successfully filled all of our tags. We met some great people, drank lots of good whiskey, explored beautiful land and each took a muley and an antelope. We were lucky enough to eat a lot of delicious meals, including the tenderloins from our antelopes, which were marinated for 12 hours in milk and butter, lightly salted and then seared 1 minute a side on the grill. They turned out perfect.

I'm officially a hunting addict now, and have spent all of my spare time reading, researching and listening to podcasts. I'm already working on 2021 and 2022 adventures.

Any comments/suggestions for my next hunt adventure would be greatly appreciated.

Outfitter. They did a really great job. First time for me hunting with an outfitter out west. Learned a ton

Cooked some venison on the fire this afternoon with my son and tried out the new tripod for the binos
