2019 Sheep "meatpole"

That’s a beauty !

Unfortunately California Bighorns have to compete with Rockies in the B&C records book but SCI recognizes California Bighorns as a separate subspecies and he is the new #3 in the world with SCI.
I also don't think he would have survived another winter with zero body fat and poor teeth.

Congrats! Those are the best ones. Taken ethically just before they had to die nature’s often painful death.

We just got my sons 2018 ram back from the taxi, and he is super excited to have a mount on the wall.

I’ve been off this site for a while, but here are two pics of my Colorado sheep from this September. I feel exceptionally fortunate to have only waited 10 years to draw this tag and to have had a great friend to hunt with me. Maybe the future holds another sheep hunt!

These are his scored measurements:
bases: 16 1/8 and 16 3/8
Lengths: 38 5/8 and 37 6/8
left circ.: 15 3/8, 12 7/8 and 8
right circ: 15 3/8, 12 7/8 and 8 1/8

After a couple month speed bump I got my sheep back. I fell victim to the new Alberta sheep jig that was mentioned earlier in this thread. I was never charged, yet the animal was confiscated. It was a frustrating time. I found other hunters that ran into similar issues with the new jig.

I wrote to the minister of environment and just had my sheep returned today as a happy start to 2020. I know at least two other sheep have been returned. The government realizes there is an issue between what the jig measures and what is put forward in the regs. If you know someone else who had their sheep deemed short but not charged this year tell them to write the AEP or send me a PM for assistance. These animals are too beautiful to let waste.

What kind of "Jig" are they using to determine legality?
