Just curious what everybody is choosing for the upcoming season.

I've been working on a lead free load for my 6.5 CM because I live in the worst state in the country.

My load is as follows:

Bullet : Hammer Hunter 124 (Closer to 126 grains) at .020" off the lands.
Case : Alpha Munitions Small Primer
Primer : CCI BR-4, may give the CCI 450 a try.
Powder: I've been toying with both RL-26 and H4350. Out of my Hells Canyon Speed I'm getting mid 2900 MVs with RL-26, grouping right around .5 MOA.

Let's hear what everybody else is shooting this year.

Might only have one rifle hunt this year but let’s suppose the bow hunts don’t go well..

300 NM - 230 Berger hybrid over h1000 @ 2940
300 WM - 215 Berger over h1000 @ 2900
300 WSM- 200 eldx over h4831sc @ 2820
7 SAUM - TBD, probably a 180 or 175 eld over h1000 or rl26
6.5 SAUM - 135 Berger over h1000 @ 3150
223 - 77 TMK over Varget @ 2800

I’d use the 223 if I don’t fill elk tag with a bow, not sure about deer yet.

Non-CA load is a 175 eldx over IMR7828ssc and a BR2 in Nosler brass. Shoots in the .4-.5 range at 2880. 145 LRX is still in the load development phase.
300 win gets factory Barnes 180tsx cause it shoots better than any handload I could work up.
If I get my 264 win mag back from LRI quick enough I’ll work up some 127 LRX for CA and 140 Bergers if I get lucky and pull an Idaho speedgoat tag.
If I have time the 35 whelen will get a 225 Barnes load worked up, but that’s lower on the priority list. Got screwed with the lead ban this year, now to rework copper loads for everything...

64.5ish gr of RL-19

Haven't gotten around to running it through the chrono.

Same. Working on a 200 TSX/RL15 load for the .35 Whelen right now.

May or may not do sheep in August as I have done the past half dozen years, but if I do it will be...
7mm-08
120grn TTSX
RL-15
pushing close to 3000fps out of a 23" Lilja barrel
(still haven't found a legal ram yet, but soooo close...I have taken a mountain goat with this load and quite a few blacktail)

This fall I'm taking the same load that I've been using for quite a few years up here, and it has done the job real well for many moose and several grizzlies....
375H&H
270grn TSX
RL-15
right at 2800fps out of a 24" Lilja barrel

Every spring for spot and stalk black bear on the snow slides and mountain sides it's been the same load...
257WBY
100grn TSX
RL-22
right at 3600fps out of a 26" Lilja barrel
(that load combination is like a laser beam, and it just zaps them DRT)

225 Game King’s and RL15 shot really well for me. Probably gonna go with the 225 TSX.

I was shooting 225 Partitions. I've got a box of 225 TSX too - and frankly went a bit nuts buying other options to explore - but figured I'd start with lower weight after the switch to all-copper and see what the velocities look like.

My first two I’ll use for sheep, antelope and deer. Toss up between the other two for elk.

Cooper 92 6.5-300 wby 130 tsx 75.5 gr RL 26 around 3400fps.

Tikka 270 win 130 Ballistic tip IMR 4831 3100 FPS

Remington 700 xcr 375 h and h 270 tsx 78 grains Viht n540 2890 FPS.

And possibly if I feel the others aren’t loud enough. Wby 338-378 210tsx 119 grains of retumbo at 3470.

All bow hunts this year but should have my SR3 switch barrel hunting rifle together so I will be working on a 175 Berger load with RL23 in 280 AI and of course a Berger 215 hybrid load in the 30 nos barrel.

Wait wait wait......I can push a 150 out of a 270 > 3000????

I have a 270 Remington 700 CDL. Right now it likes 54.0 of H4831 with the 150 gr LRAB. I don't have a chrono but the drops on this load suggest it's not trucking that fast. The fastest load on the Nosler page for the 150 gr is just north of 2900. 60.0 of RL-26 is a safe round?

Edit: Wow, I need to get some RL-26

What is the group size?
