These are all great pics! Congrats to everyone!

Like most who've posted, this was my first elk hunt. I turned 40 at the end of August and wanted to prove to myself I wasn't an old man. Took vacation Sept 4 through the 14, drove 15 hours and bought an OTC archery tag in southern CO, and then hiked into the San Juans on a solo. Hunted 9 days and never saw or heard an elk. On day 10 at 2 pm and 11,000' in elevation I was finally given a chance. The hard work and patience finally paid off! I killed my first elk! GPS said 4.1 miles from camp. Took this pic with about one mile left to go on my final trip out! Never felt so young! Lol

Great bulls. Congrats everyone. I’m a real sucker for the photos with the expansive landscapes. The dense timber shots are great but don’t so as much for me.

What’s reality? All the nice archery bulls here or all the guys hearing zero bulges in the state report threads? Probably a little of both eh.

The rocks are a little tradition my brother, wife and I have of leaving some of my Dad's ashes and a little cairn wherever we get an elk.

This is NOT a biggest bull contest, but a "best photo" contest. The winning 2019 photo will be judged on the following criteria and rules:

1) WOW Factor. Is it a great photo that grabs the viewer? This takes in lighting, color, uniqueness, etc.

2) Composition- by that I mean the way in which the different parts that make up your photo are arranged- is there too much background, not enough animal? or visa versa? Are the antler tips out of the frame or the hunters head cut off? Or is it a good balance between the bull, the hunter, the terrain? (the hunter is not required to appear in the photo.)

3) Size of animal. This doesn't mean biggest animal wins, but if #1 and #2 are equal, we'll chose the bigger animal.

4) Must be a photo of a bull harvested in 2019

5) Between archery season and December 10th, post up your best harvest photo on this thread

6) One photo per bull only. If you harvest multiple bulls, you can enter one photo for each

7) Also, by posting on this thread, you agree to let Rokslide and Kifaru use any of the photos in promotional material without compensation

8) Any international winner is responsible for border tax, custom fees, excessive postage fees, etc.

Who can relate? This was about 2:00 am, and had been packing since the previous morning. Had both front shoulders inside the pack as well on this last trip. Original Timberline 1 with internal frame still works great!!

Sorry about the selfie but when you're solo, the options are more limited. Archery, public land, Wyoming general tag. Shot on the 11th day of the hunt, 12th day was mostly spent packing out.
