Obviously not the biggest buck on the mountain, but a special deer for me (first mule deer, first CO big game animal). Also, he represents "figuring out" DIY Western hunting for me after moving to CO from WI a few years ago. Will probably do a write up later, but he deserves a place on the "meat pole" despite not being a giant.

No worries Carlin.. It's the meat pole thread, not horn porn. I bet he was good eating!

I got my first buck two years ago and it was smaller than that one.... but still really special. If you look at the stats, just filling a tag is a big success.

Congrats on your first mulie! I am sure it will be followed by many more bucks and elk

Thanks Fellas! Yep, I have been putting equal quantities of meat in my gut as i have the freezer since i got him home on Sunday. The young ones are tender ;) I have a wall full of nice whitetails back home in WI, but this guy means a lot more to me than most of those. Definitely can't wait for next year (already planning)!

Had him on a trail camera in August. But never again. Was not thinking he would show up during the season. But he did, now he is dead :)

Still out chasing bucks in the high country. So far we are 3 for 3 and i'll post the story and photos in a few days when we are (yuck) back in civilization. Thought I would post this photo as I ran into a buddy of mine in the area and his neighbor shot this one near Challis. I think he said it scored 239ish. Very nice buck.

Not the biggest but long drives and warm weather added with lots of pressure makes you pull the trigger, I've only shot one other Muley before on a draw archery hunt here in ca so I'm more than happy with this one, the next morning my buddy shot his on the same hillside and we spent the day packing them out. Overall great time and my first out of state big game kill

He'll be in the top 10 or 15 of the entire West. Fabulous buck. Thanks for posting Randy

Got this guy on the last day of second rifle here in Colorado. More meat for the freezer! Bumped this guy in a small set of trees. Whistled as he bounded off with two does. They were slowing up as they went over a little dip so I ran the 600-800 yds to the ridge. They were right there. Ranged him at 397yds, caught my breath and put him down. Longest shot so far on an animal. Was pretty exciting, all happened within just a few minutes.

My buddies and I got it done on a general hunt in central Idaho. We were all together for all 3 bucks killed and all of our first bucks bigger than 2 points! Not bad for a few 20 year olds just figuring out where these bucks like to hang out.

My buck

Here are a few pics of my wife's first ever muzzy buck, not the caliber of buck we had hoped for but it was a pretty tough hunt with not much for weather and very little hunting/scouting time due to a newborn baby girl, and multiple missed shots/misfires at bigger bucks amongst other things. But we made the most of it and it all came down to the wire, with less than 15 minutes of legal shooting light on the last day she got this nice buck.
