That works, that first bull laying down is a cool bull with some character, hope you find him within rifle range.

Great stuff Ross, always enjoy your posts and dedication. No doubt it’s not from lack of effort that your tag is still unpunched. An inspirational and questionably sane elk hunter once told me,” you create your own luck” ;) there is no doubt we’ll be viewing some 2014 Meat Pole success here in the near future from Mr. Ross Russell.

Another 12 days in Idaho for rifle season and I am believing I used all my 2014 mojo in 2013:( Off to pound ground in Mt this weekend and praying for snow.

Ross, NW MT has been seeing some snow for sure. Decent amounts in some higher areas.

I was out in it all day Sunday and it actually stacked up pretty good. Kinda warm today and maybe for a few days more, but it's getting there...

Good luck.

Another 5 days of ground pound has the knee lookin like a cantalope..........some awesome views in Nwest Mt, a nasty day up high, then nutt busting cold, small bucks and the rut sign picking up, but still slim on the elk........for anyone familiar with lake Wanless you will recognize this sign as you drop down into the first lake......needless to say there was no one else in this area on this day :) including mr big buck did see one monster track otherwise just a good exercise day.

Appreciate the kind words guys, luckily the Mrs is a very nice lady to let me get out this much, though when I come home limping with ice packs I get a reality check, ie no one makes you do this you know:)

The knee is starting to balk at me 4sure and heading out at 2am for another quick round one cool photo from last Saturday.....

Unfortunately Jason it is a knee with a long history of surgeries and rebuilds....my friend and orthopedist has advised I should of had some form of knee replacement in years past, so you can do only what you can do until that time is here

Well day 35 during Turkey break and this ole timer Fubard it........been more than a decade without adding something nice to the collection and now I get to stew over it for 9 months. A few more scenery pics and time to put some pounds back on this body. Hunting Nwest Mt and Nid definately aint no tv show, but you get to see some beautiful country that many never could get close to. It was fun, but last year was alot more fun:)

Ross, your hunting skills combined with the amount of luck you built by not getting one this year will likely equate to another one season/three bulls story for 2015. I am already looking forward to the story.
